About Me
Michael, a native of Burlington, VT, has always been deeply connected to his hometown. Growing up there and experiencing firsthand the transformative power of authentic learning, he was inspired to bring the same opportunities to his future students. After obtaining his degree in Education from Johnson State College, he embarked on his career in education as a dedicated paraprofessional and sports coach.
With a few years of teaching and coaching soccer and basketball under his belt, Michael decided to pursue new horizons and relocated to Massachusetts. This marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his life as a head teacher in fifth grade. Over the course of seven years, he worked at two different schools in Springfield, each with its own distinct educational model—one following a charter system and the other a more traditional approach.
During this period, Michael made significant strides in enhancing his technological prowess, leveraging his expertise in utilizing a learning management system and employing technology to create authentic learning experiences. Furthermore, he honed his skills in using technology to develop actionable steps for student learning after assessments. His dedication and commitment to his craft did not go unnoticed, as he was eventually promoted to his current position within the district.
As a passionate advocate of technology in education, Michael firmly believes in the efficacy of the flipped classroom and blended learning models of instruction. While teaching, he discovered his true passion lies in empowering educators to harness the benefits of technology within their classrooms. Recognizing the transformative potential of technology in education, he has actively presented at prestigious conferences such as Masscue, ISTE, and TCEA.
When Michael isn’t immersed in the world of education, he cherishes quality time with his loving wife and three children. He finds joy in activities such as watching movies, brewing beer, playing the bass guitar, and indulging his creative side by crafting various projects with his hands.
