Welcome Back 2022-2023!
Summer was way too short! I still hold out that summer is here until the end of the Big E (The biggest fair in all of New England), even though we are back in school. We’ve had an exciting summer around here at Digital Learning and Assessment (DLA) and we can’t wait for the school year to begin. We hope that all the changes that we have made over the summer help you all use technology more efficiently.
Over the summer we have spent a lot of time figuring out how to get various software integrated into Schoology and I’m excited to say that we have added the following to Schoology:
One of the big things we spent a lot of time on this summer was making sure the grade book works for everyone. We addressed many of the grade book issues that we had last year and I encourage you to check out the updates we’ve made.. We also laid out what the Elementary Experience is and how to use it. In addition, we have updated the Using Digital Materials module content with even more resources for you to use. You can find documentation and videos for these new additions in the Schoology Tools and Resources course inside of Schoology.
In future posts we are going to break down the latest updates to the Microsoft Tools, consider how blended learning can work in a post-COVID world, strategize about using video and podcasting in classrooms, and finally, take a really deep dive into Gamification and Game-Based Learning. I have spent a lot of time researching this topic so that we can take learning to the next level.
One of the fun things that I did this summer was visit a few summer school classes and see how they are using Technology and Computer Science in their school. Keep an eye out for the spotlight videos and podcast episodes where I talked with the teachers of these courses.
We are about halfway through this calendar year, so you still have time to earn points and badges and win prizes for your use of tools in the classroom. Yup, I’m talking about 22 Tools for 2022 and you still have a few months before this year’s challenge ends! If it’s been a while, the 22 Tools for 2022 is a digital learning tools pathway for anyone to participate in. Through 22 Tools, we give you points and badges that for using the tools we have in the district. Check out the leaderboard here. The 23 Tools Challenge will begin in January of 2023, and you’ll see all the new challenges. We’ll write about it in December.
We know that last year was tough, but we are all stronger for it and now we are gearing up for our best year yet! Leave us a note in the comments below with all the things you’re looking forward to this year!
